Your body will lose too much water due to scorching heat and sweating. So refresh and replenish your body with some summer drinks so that you can beat the heat.

 

Summer visits us with the temperature being soaring high, and makes us feel sweaty, mess up and fatigued. We are to keep us away from dehydration in summer as we sweat a lot. Even our life becomes difficult to run under the sun in our day to day lives. Our body loses a lot of water in summer. Water, in fact, is very important for our body. We become thirsty as we lose a lot of waters from our body.

To quench our thirst, we start taking different beverages. The best is homemade summer drinks which are beneficial for our health, here suggesting some Healthy Summer Drinks, which you should try to make at home this summer. 

1. Cucumber Water

Cucumber is high in essential vitamins A, C, and B6. It also contains folic acid and antioxidant. It has tremendous health benefits, including hydration, weight loss, lowering blood pressure and skin health. On the other hand, cucumber water is a cheap, and quick, and surely an appetizing way to drink and enjoy the water. Being enriched with vitamins, folic acid, and antioxidant, it keeps us preventing many health hazards like cancer and diabetes. Yes, it keeps our bones, skin, and muscles healthy.

Let's make cucumber Water

Ingredients we need:

  1. 8 Cups of Water

  1. 2 Cucumbers, Thin Slice

  1. Half Tea Spoon Salt

 

 

 

How to make juice from Cucumber:

  1. Keep the sliced cucumbers and the salt to a jar

  2. Add water and stir well

  3. Cover up and refrigerate for overnight, or at least for three hours

  4. Keep the water refrigerated

  5. Serve it with or without ice

  6. Drink it within 3 days

How to make cucumber water more flavorful

Add lemons or limes or oranges or spring of mint or basil leaves or melon or a stalk of lemongrass or pineapple or fresh raspberries or other barriers or pineapple to make flavorful while you are keeping same benefits. We can also take cucumber water in our bottle as a walkway drink.

 

2. Aam Panna

Aam Panna or Green Mango Drink, a tangy in taste, is made of green mango/unripe mango pulp, which is rich in pectin, malic, citric and oxalic acids, prevents the loss of necessary salts and iron from our bodies. This drink, in fact, is a great rehydration drink. Though it is tangy in taste, people like it as it is salty or sweet, depending on what you are adding with to this drink. It's color ranges of being pale yellow to pale green, generally the green color is caused by the addition of mint leaves to the drink. It is such a drink that has been a part of Indian houses for centuries, and it spread to the Indian subcontinent and the whole world.

The benefits of Aam Panna is huge to discuss. The Re-hydrates, meaning it maintains Electrolyte balance and prevents Iron loss. Vitamin A, B1, B2, B6, C, niacin, iron, and folates are abundant in this drink. Vitamin B6 fights against depression. This drink also helps regulate the digestive process and cares for the cure of ailments like diarrohea, piles, gastroenteritis, and constipation because pectin is rich in green mangoes. Furthermore, it helps fight against jaundice. Again, this drink builds resistance against anemia, cholera, and tuberculosis. As such a drink contains vitamin A, it also protects the eye. It, being enriched in antioxidant, also prevents from skin, colon, and breast cancer. The folates, found in green mango, protects the fetus, and thus it prevents from any types of deformity in the fetus. Yes, it also controls regular diabetes.

A. Aam Panna with Jaggery: (for 2 people)

Ingredients we need:

  1. 2-3 Green mangoes, large or medium

  1. 5-6 Tablespoon of crushed or powdered Black Peeper

  1. 2-3 table of spoon of crushed or powdered Cardamom

  1. Black Salt (as per taste)

  1. 1 Cup of Powdered Jaggery

  1. 500 ml of water

 

How to make:

  1. Wash the mangoes. Tap them dry, slice thin splits on the mangoes and rub them with some cooking oil.

  2. Now place the mangoes on an iron mesh (generally used for grilling on the flame), and grill the mangoes on the flame.

  3. In a large bowl, pour 500 ml of drinking water. Once the mangoes are grilled, put them in water to cool down.

  4. When the mangoes have cooled down, peel them, separate the pulp and seed, and mash the pulp in the same water used for cooling the mangoes.

  5. Add cumin powder, black pepper powder, Hing, Chaat masala and salt and mix well.

  6. Strain this water in a jug filled with 500 ml chilled water.

  7. Stir well, pour in glasses and serve.

 

B.  Aam Panna With Sugar: (For 4 People)

Ingredients we need:

  1. 2 Large Green mangoes

  1. 2 Tablespoon of Roasted and Powdered Cumin Seeds

  1. 1 table of spoon of crushed Black Pepper

  1. Black Salt (as per taste)

  1. 1 Pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)

  1. 1 quarter cup of Sugar

 

How to make:

  1. Wash and then boil Mangoes.

  2. When the mangoes become cool, peel, separate the pulp and seed.

  3. Add the pulp in a bowl, mash and strain the pulp.

  4. Add cumin powder, black pepper, black salt, hing and sugar to the strained juice. Mix very well.

  5. Add this mixture into 1 liter of chilled water.

  6. Stir well, pour in glasses and serve chilled.

 

    1. Smoked and Salty Aam Panna (For 4 Persons)

Ingredients we need:

  1. 2 Large Green mangoes

  1. 2 Tablespoon of Roasted and Powdered Cumin Seeds

  1. 1 Table of spoon of Powdered Black Pepper

  1. 1 Table of spoon Chaat Masala

  1. 1 Pinch of Hing (Asafoetida)

  1. Black Salt (as per taste)

 

How to make:

3. Jaljeera

Jaljeera, an Indian summer drink, is full of nutrition with a great taste and flavor, is beneficial for digestion and dehydration. Such a drink also helps in reducing weight. Ingredients we need:

  1. ½ Cup of Coriander leaves

  1. ½ cup of mint leaves

  1. 1 table of spoon of black salt

  1. Salt (as per taste)

  1. 2 pinches of asafoetida/hing

  1. 1 table spoon of  black peppercorns

  1. ½ roasted cumin powder

  1. 1 table of spoon of dried mango powder/amchur

  1. 1 table of spoon of dried ginger powder

  1. ½ table of spoon of sugar

  1. juice of two medium-sized lemons

         L. chilled water - 4 cups

        M.   boondi - ¼ cup

 

 

 

 

How to make:

  1. In a blender, combine all the ingredients except boondi and make it into a smooth mixture.

  2. Add a little water to it and transfer into a jug.

  3. Add the remaining water to the mixture and stir well with a spoon.

  4. Pour the Jaljeera into the glasses.

  5. Garnish each glass with a tablespoon of boondi and serve immediately.


4.Agua Fresca


Arua Fresca is a Mexican drink which infuses water with your favourite fresh fruits. Such a drink also contains a lot of vitamin and mineral to keep us fight against the diseases. This drink helps rejuvenates skin, improves digestion, fights against infection, helps with weight loss, prevents cancer, and reduces the chance of heart diseases and inflammation.

Ingredients we need:

  1. 4 cups of cold water

                                                                                                    B.    1/4 cup sugar

  1. 2 cups of your favorite fresh fruit ( berries or papaya or watermelon)

  1. 2 teaspoons of freshly squeezed lime juice

                       

                      E. Lime wedges

 

 

 

How to make:

  1. Place fruit and water in a blender and Mixture.

  2. Place a small sieve over a pitcher.

  3. Pour mixture into it, straining the liquid into the pitcher.

  4. Discard solids.

  5. Add lime juice and sugar.

  6. Garnish with lime wedges.

 



4. Watermelon Juice

Watermelon is a good source of fiber, vitamin A, B, and C. Furthermore, it contains protein, carbohydrate, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, enzymes, organic acids, and natural sugars.  The benefits of watermelon, no one can deny.

  1. 5 cups of large watermelon chunks

  1. 2 cups of natural coconut juice (or just water)

  1. 8 fresh mint leaves

  1. large handful of ice

 

 

How to make:

  1. Keep all ingredients in a blender and blend for about 20 seconds, or until the desired texture is achieved.

  2. Store leftovers in an airtight glass container in the fridge for up to two days. The fresher the better. Separation is natural.

A. 1 cup of plain yogurt

  1. 2 cups of  cold water

 

           C. 1 green chili

  1. 1/2 inch ginger

 

          1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro

  1. 1/2 teaspoon of cumin powder

 

         G. 1/2 teaspoon black salt

  1. 1/4 teaspoon salt, or to taste

 

          I. 1/4 teaspoon chat masala

  1. cilantro or mint, for garnish

 

How to make:

  1. Pour all ingredients into a blender.

  2. Blend till combined.

  3. Pour into serving glasses,

  4. Garnish with fresh cilantro or mint and serve 

 

 7. Sattu Sharbat

Sattu sharbat, is made with sattu flour, sugar and water, originated from Bihar, most of the people claim, it is a drink that keeps the body cool even during the sunniest day. It is undoubtedly a refreshing drink during summer days.  Sattu is great for digestion as it contains insoluble fiber.

  1. 1/2 tablespoons Roasted Gram Flour (sattu)

  1. Mint Leaves (Pudina), finely chopped

  1. 2 tablespoons Coriander (Dhania) Leaves, finely chopped

  1. 1 Green Chilly, finely chopped

 

  1. 1 tablespoon Lemon juice

  1. 1/2 teaspoon Cumin powder (Jeera)

 

  1. 1/2 teaspoon Black Salt

  1. 3 cups Chilled water

  1. Salt, up to taste

 

 

How to make:

  1. To begin making the Sattu Ka Sharbat, get all the ingredients handy.

  2. In a bowl, add the sattu flour. To this, add rest of the ingredients, including pudina leaves, coriander leaves, green chili, lemon juice, roasted cumin powder, black salt, and mix well after adding cold or chilled water.

  3. Stir until the drink is uniform and without any lumps.

  4. Pour it into the Big glasses and serve.
